Mother Nature spares EWSC Racing one more time
Friday, August 1st 2014, Manitowoc WI. – Professional Plating Inc 360 Sprints Challenge Series Night, along with Trophy Sponsor Mueller Motorsports Marketing was on the bill for the evening. Mother Nature spared the lakeshore area, allowing the races to go off without a hitch.
GRAND NATIONALS
As the field of Grand Nationals led off the main events for the evening, 95 Donny Kulow (Plymouth), 21 Kevin Lubach (Elkhart Lake), 98s Tom Schneider (Chilton), 37 Ryan Minster (Sheboygan), and 7s Tim Simon (Fon du Lac) made up the top 5 taking the green. Minster came around to lead the first lap with Lubach and X Brian Cesar (Plymouth) in tow. Matt Jackson (Sheboygan) in the 8j and 7 Brian Gilles (Plymouth) fought through the pack to gain positions. Yellow lights flashed on Lap 8 as 42 Nick Strobbe (Germantown) spun in Turn 2 and was sent to the rear of the field for the restart. Minster, Lubach, Simon, Schneider, Gilles and Jackson led the competitors back down to green, only to be slowed by yellow a lap later for debris, while 66 Travis Moehring (Sheboygan) retired with mechanical issues. Back under green, Minster led at half-way, with Lubach, Simon, Gilles, and Schneider. Minster continued to build the lead, whil Lubach, Schneider, Gilles and Simon continued the battle for second, with Jackson in the 8j ready to pounce when someone made a mistake. Minster took the flag for the win, followed by Lubach, Schneider, Simon, Gilles, Jackson, 24k Tyler Kulow (New Holstein) and 9 Seth Hoeffner (Manitowoc). Jackson garnered Hard Charger picking up 5 spots.

BAILEIGH INDUSTRIAL LATE MODELS
The Baileigh Industrial Late Model field was led to the track by 7b Tim Buhler (Glenbeulah), d7 Jim Letizia (Milwaukee), 79 Jim Schmidt (Cleveland), 74m Mitch McGrath (Waukesha), and 33 Ron Stroika (Mukwonago). Buhler ran out to the early lead, with McGrath chasing him down and Schmidt tracking them looking for an opening. Yellow lights slowed the action on Lap 7 for 70 Brian Gilles (Plymouth) suffering a flat high in Turn 3 and unable to exit the track. Buhler led McGrath, Schmidt, 75 TJ Dolhoun (Milwaukee), and Letizia. Rolling through half-way and encountering heavy traffic, Buhler led McGrath and Schmidt racing tightly for 2nd. Lap 18 produced another caution as Stroika, and 97 Justin Schmidt (Cleveland) were involved in a wreck in Turn 2 that would sideline Schmidt for the evening with extensive damage. Still out on point, Buhler led McGrath, Jim Schmidt, 74 Russ Scheffler, and Letizia back to the green. Buhler, Schmidt, and McGrath had taken the white one to go flag when the Red Flag flew for a violent accident on the backstretch involving Dolhoun. The car had viscious contact into the guard rail and rolling over, ending on its top. Dolhoun emerged unhurt, but was required to take the ambulance ride to the pits. The race ended there, with Buhler taking the win and Russ Scheffler the Hard Charger honors.

DEFAUT AUTO SPORTMODS
The Defaut Auto Sportmod feature pulled into place with 55p Mike Plate (Valders) and 17 Jonathon Otte (Cedar Grove) on the front row and 53 Gary Glander (Sheboygan Falls) and 84 Bradley Ruh (Elkhart Lake) in Row 2. Colten VanHierden (Beaver Dam) in the 66c made a couple of huge moves to grab the first lap lead while Ruh and Plate settled in behind him. Steve Schneider (Chilton) 21s and 25 Travis Arenz (Sheboygan) swiftly moved through the pack into positions to challenge for the top 5. Lap 6 produced the first caution for debris, Jordan Tuyls (Appleton) in the orange 13 had to slide into the pits to secure body panels, but was able to rejoin the field at the rear. VanHierden, Schneider, 17b Ben VanWyk (Waldo), Ruh, and Arenz set the top 5 going back to green, while 34 Cody Eickberg (Plymouth) was working his way towards the top 5, and at Lap 7 he made a pass on Ruh to roll into 5th. At midway it was VanHierden, Schneider, VanWyk, Eickberg, Arenz, and Ruh. With 5 to go the leaders were in heavy lapped traffic, battling for the top 5 spots. VanHierden rolled under the stand for the win, followed by Schneider, Eickberg, VanWyk, 20 cody Schroeder (Manitowoc), Arenz, 22b Brandon Berth (Cascade), 63b Jesse Brey (Two Rivers), 2k Rick Kretschmann (Sheboygan Falls) and Ruh. Schroeder and Brey took Hard Charger honors passing 10 cars each.

PROFESSIONAL PLATING INC. 360 SPRINTCARS
The Professional Plating Inc. 360 Sprints feature were pushed out by their crews and as the field assembled, 21t TJ Luedke (Plymouth) and 15m Brandon McMullen (Sheboygan) were on point. Filling out the top 5 on the start were 44 Jason Johnson, 24 Scott Conger (Eagle), and 2c Chris Clayton (Waldo). Yellow flew before a lap could be completed for an incident involving 99 Kyle Marten (Sheboygan Falls) and 55 Samantha Portschy (Plymouth). After the restart Luedke ran out to the lead, with McMullen, 25 Danny Schlafer (Sussex), Conger, and Johnson in the top 5. McMullen moved around Luedke for the lead on Lap 3, leaving the 21t to battle Schlafer in the 25 for 2nd. Scott Sippel (Elkhart Lake) in the 19 retired to the pits on Lap 4, while McMullen continued to lead. Caution flew on Lap 10 for a spin by McMullen, handing the lead to Schlafer. Two cars retired from the event, 7y Mitchell Yurmanovich (Cascade) and 42 Matt VanWyk (Waldo). Schlafer led the field back to the green, while Luedke, Johnson, and 6k Kurt Davis (West Allis), and 39s Randy Sippel filled out the top 5. Rolling through the midway mark, it was Schlafer, Johnson, Luedke, Davis, 21h Tim Haddy (Waupan), Conger, 53 Shane Wenninger (Kewaskum), 4 Paul Pokorski (West Bend), and Marten in the top 10. Schlafer, Johnson, & Luedke continued to battle hard for the lead through the second half of the race, while Sippel, Davis and Marten maintained their own challenges. Luedke pulled off the huge victory, with Schlafer, Johnson, Davis, Randy Sippel, Marten, and Haddy filling out the top 7. Hard Charger honors to Davis, passing 9 cars.

SPORT FOURS
The front row of the Sport 4 feature showed the 43 of Team Brendel on the pole, with the 7p Cody Pankow on the outside. Branden Goeser of Chilton in the 3g and 3 Justin Erickson (Plymouth) filled out the second row, while 22jr Ralph Liegeois Jr started last after winning last weeks feature. Pankow grabbed the early lead with 7m Chris Moss of Oakfield scooted into second. Caution flew during Lap 3 for Goeser who had stalled in Turn 2, while Brendel retired to the pits for the evening. Pankow led the restart followed by Liegeois, Moss, 07m Ben Meyerhofer (Menasha) and Erickson. Liegeois rolled into the lead on Lap 4, bringing Meyerhofer with him into second, and 44 Shaun Bangart (Chilton) into third. Caution flew at the midway point, once again for Goeser who retired his car for the night. Liegeois led Meyerhofer back to green, with Moss, Erickson, and Bangart in tow. Liegeois rolled under checkers for the win, with Meyerhofer, Moss, Bangart, and Erickson filling out the top 5.
