Long Brothers Double Up On Feature Wins at Luxemburg Speedway
(Luxemburg, WI)- You know how sometimes people say they fight like brothers or how there is that brotherly love? Well the Long family love was flowing Friday night as both Josh and Brandon Long won their respective Features in the IMCA Modified and IMCA Sportmod classes.
Other feature winners included: Brandon Czarapata(IMCA Stockcars) Cody Junio(IMCA Hobby Stocks) and Dan Davister(Street Stocks.)
Dave Zeitler set the pace for the first two laps of the twenty lap IMCA Modified Feature event. Kyle Kudick rose to the top spot with a power move on lap three. Kudick would lead a short time until rookie Josh Long shot by down low. Long would continue to work the lead as he stretched out his legs up front. Benji LaCrosse made his way to the second spot on lap thirteen and tried multiple lanes to track down Long. LaCrosse would find the right lanes and cut into the ¾ straightaway lead that Long had built up. As the white flag flew, LaCrosse was on the back bumper. Long stayed true to champion form and held off LaCrosse on the final four corners to take the win. He won his first career IMCA Modified Feature at Luxemburg. He also scored the clean sweep evening as he won his heat race. LaCrosse was scored second with Kudick third. Eric Mahlik finished fourth with point leader Jason Czarapata fifth after coming thru the consy.
Luke Lemmens was hoping for rain until he was at the track and found himself at the front of the IMCA Stockcar Feature. Lemmens dove from fourth to first on the first lap and set the standard early. Lemmens would lead as point leader Brandon Czarapata made his way from the fifth row to second at the halfway point of the race. Czarapata tracked down Lemmens and moved outside of the leader on lap fourteen. Czarapata would take the lead and be on his way to another feature win. A caution with three laps remaining gave the field one last shot. Czarapata powered away from the boys and won his fifth feature of the season. He improved his point lead with the win. The battle for second was decided by a three-wide battle at the checkered flag line. Troy Muench beat out both Lemmens and Snellenberger for the runner-up spot. Barry VanStraten finished fifth.
Scott Boulanger started second in the IMCA Sportmod Feature and led the opening laps. Two cautions would fly throughout the race as the first occurred on lap five. Brandon Long had worked his way to second at the time of the caution and used the yellow to his advantage. Long blew by on top on the restart and immediately started to pull away. The final caution flew with ten laps remaining. Long pulled away and left everyone to battle for second on the way to a full straightaway win. The W was his second of the season at the speedway. Boulanger ran to his second runner-up finish of the season. Ryan Lemieux had a strong points night as he finished third. Josh Lambert had a career best fourth place run with Dennis Miesler fifth.
Scott Boulanger pulled off a four-wide pass off of turn two to open up the IMCA Hobby Stock Main Event. Boulanger ran down low with Cody Junio working to his back bumper. Jeremy Jauquet made it a three car race. Junio battled outside of Boulanger and into the lead right before a caution would fly. Junio restarted the race up front and never looked back in earning his first win of the season. Jauquet would finish second. Dan Van Pay finished a point ahead of Derek Moede. Cory Cotter rounded out the top five.
“Hollywood” Dan Davister looked like a movie star as he dominated the fifteen lap Street Stock Feature event. Davister jetted from the pole and led every lap en route to the victory. Point leader Keith Kickbusch finally got to second with five laps remaining but couldn’t catch Davister. Davister won his first Main of the season in front of Kickbusch. Frank Dorn won a late race battle with Sawyer Haese for third. Andy Fuhrmann stayed second in the points with his fifth place finish.
