Coming into the weekend of racing, we were 16 points behind Andy Kleczka for the points lead at Luxemburg Speedway and leading Jarred VanLaanen by a slim margin of 2 points at Thunderhill Raceway.

On Friday night, I finished 6th in the heat race which put me way back in the starting field for the feature. Rolling off 18th, an early wreck moved me up a few positions closer to the top 10. The track dried out a lot more than we had anticipated, and our push through the field stalled at the midway point in the race.

On the final restart, I was able to slip past VanLaanen to end the night with an 11th place finish. Kleczka was involved in the first caution and was able to fight back to finish one spot behind me, putting me 15 points out of the lead.

On Saturday night, a 5th place finish in the heat race put me 7th on the starting grid for the feature. In the early going, I was able to slip past a couple cars into the top 5. A caution flag flew, and I used that restart to drop to the bottom of the track past Bernie Reinhardt for 3rd. Another caution flag flew, and after trying to pass Cody Rass on the outside for the lead, I went back to the bottom to pass Ryan LeMieux for 2nd.

After another caution, LeMieux used the outside to grab the lead while I used the low line past Rass to move back into the runner-up spot. A final caution flag flew setting up a 5 lap dash to the finish, as LeMieux ran the high line and I ran the low line. With 1 lap remaining, I had enough momentum to make the pass stick in turns 1 & 2 to capture my 2nd feature win of the season.

This week we will be at Thunderhill Raceway on Wednesday night and Luxemburg Speedway on Friday night. Remember to check out Budzo Racing on the web at budzoracing.com, on Facebook at facebook.com/budzoracing, on Twitter at twitter.com/budzoracing and on YouTube at youtube.com/budzoracing.
