20th Annual Street Stock Little Dream Bigger & Better Than Ever
The 20th edition of the annual Street Stock Little Dream Race is quickly approaching at the Rice Lake Speedway in Rice Lake, Wisconsin on Tuesday, August 5th, 2014.
The event features one of the most unique purse structures in all of motorsports where fans and local businesses are asked to donate and contribute to the purse to see how high the winner’s share can grow to throughout the event.
In 2013, winner Sam Fankhauser raced away with a WISSOTA Street Stock record payoff of $8,020 to win this traditional mid-week event. 2012 winner Jim Randall took home a then record $6,108. The event has seen payouts over $3,000 in each of the last four events and should easily break the $5,000 to win mark in 2014 for the third consecutive year.
Fankhauser said when asked about the biggest win of his career, ‘it was definitely unbelievable! The Little Dream is a race that I always wanted to race in when I was growing up, so to be able to win it was unreal. I can’t thank everyone enough that has helped me get to this level in my racing career. I was so shocked that I had won it, I didn’t really know how to take it or even believe that I won it until the next day! I am definitely looking forward to trying to become a back to back Little Dream champion this year!’
The Little Dream has seen 4 multi event winners during the previous 19 seasons with Eric Olson, Scott Clark, Scott Paulson and Cory Crapser winning the event twice. Olson and Clark will be looking for their third Little Dream title this season, while Tim Johnson, Jay Kesan, Randall, Royce Jawaski and Fankhauser will be looking to win the event for the second time. Fankhauser will also be looking to become the only back-to-back Little Dream champion since Crapser did it in 2006 and 2007.
The 2014 edition will once again feature WISSOTA Street Stocks as the headline division with 10-lap heat races, an 8-lap pole dash, 12-lap b-mains, a new 15-lap non qualifier race that pays $500 to win / $100 to start and the traditional 30-lap main event. Passing points will be used for this event for the second straight year as well. The 8 drivers out of the pole dash will automatically qualify for the feature along with the next 8 in total passing points from the heat races. 8 more drivers out of b-mains will also qualify for the feature event and the driver that tows the farthest to compete will be given the 25th and final starting spot in the main event.
The base payout for this event is already a very good $800 to win / $200 to start event. If drivers pre-enter by August 1st, the start money in the feature raises to $300 to start.
St. Cloud, Minnesota based FYE Motorsports Promotions has been hired to come in and operate the event for the second straight season and will bring many of its own staff to assure a smoothly run operation from start to finish.
WISSOTA Modifieds will also be on the card as the second division in action on the night with a $1,000 to win / $125 to start program.
The event is sponsored by www.BuzzSigns.com and Mahle Pistons.
Gates will open at 4pm with draw cut off at 6:45pm. Racing action is set to begin at 7pm.
Street Stock car entry fee of $100 will be required along with the regular $25 pit pass. Modified drivers will be required to pay a $25 fee at the draw window along with the regular $25 pit pass.
Entry forms can be found at www.FYEMotorsports.com/events/littledream.
