Wild Finishes Cap Off Night at 141 Speedway
on July 20, 2014 at 10:11 am(Francis Creek, WI)- A night of great finishes and late passes was what the fans in the stands and pits were greeted with at 141 Speedway Saturday Night, July 19th.
Feature Winners from Saturday night included Benji LaCrosse(IMCA Modifieds) Dustin Loberger(IMCA Stockcars) Robby Thiel(IMCA Sportmods) Mike Conard(Street Stocks) Charlie Sancinati(Grand Nationals) and Matt Brehmer(4 Cylinders.)
Four weeks in a row at 141 Speedway lapped traffic played a factor in the outcome of a feature event. This week it was the turn of the IMCA Modified division. Jeremy Jacobs led from the drop of the green flag and worked his lead to half a straightaway at the half way point of the feature. Brad Lautenbach found a fast groove and pulled in the leader on lap fifteen. The duo entered lapped traffic on the next lap. Jacobs found himself with a lapped car coming down on him off of turn four. Contact would give Lautenbach the lead with five laps remaining. Jacobs came back immediately and tried a slide-job on Lautenbach causing contact between the duo. Enter Benji LaCrosse. With all the commotion up front; LaCrosse was able to run up front and into the lead with a three-wide pass with two laps remaining. LaCrosse led the final two circuits with lapped cars to his outside. LaCrosse picked up his second win of the season in the wild
finish. A final
corner Talladega tangle allowed Lautenbach to finish second in front of Josh Long. Shawn Kilgore and point leader Johnny Whitman rounded out the top five. The feature went caution free.
Jerry Leary opened as the early leader of the IMCA Stockcar feature event. Todd Augustian powered by on the outside and set the pace with Larry Karcz in tow. Karcz would work all the lanes to try and make the pass. At one point early seven cars were all in contention for the win. Leary took the lead on lap seven for a lap but Augustian shot back on the next lap. A final caution with five laps remaining put the field on the bumper of Augustian. Augustian ran a little lower on the restart allowing Dustin Loberger to shoot into the lead off turn two. Loberger used a slide-job of his own to take the top spot with Luke Lemmens right behind. Loberger led Lemmens all the way until the checkered flag flew. The W was his second straight and third of the season. Rod Snellenberger helped his championship causes with his third place finish. Augustian finished fourth with Rick Mahlberg fifth.
Race Van Pay raced to the lead in the caution filled beginning of the IMCA Sportmod Main Event. Robby Thiel moved into the lead with a three-wide pass of Van Pay and Scott Boyea. Thiel would lead through three more cautions by lap six. That was the final caution of the race and saw the final fourteen laps go caution free. Thiel went unchallenged in picking up his first win at 141 Speedway. Boyea finished second with Greg Potts beating Brian Bruechert to the line for third. Point leader Brandon Long lost one point in the standings by finishing fifth.
Mike Wilde powered from the pole and straight to the lead in the Street Stock Show. He lead the first seven laps that saw numerous cautions. Mike Conard, Shawn Haydon, Josh McDonald and Paul Diefenthaler were nose to tail at one point in front of the field after they got around Wilde. Conard kept them all at bay through a final lap fourteen caution. Conard picked up his third win of the season after a last ditch effort by Haydon. Diefenthaler finished third in front of McDonald. Wilde had a season best fifth place finish.
Mike King brought out the only caution of the Grand National feature as he spun in front of the field on lap one. When the rest of the caution free race restarted, Kodiak Wirtz found himself on top of the field. Wirtz worked the top of the speedway with Charlie Sancinati down low. Sancinati would grab the lead for good halfway through the feature and go on to enter lapped traffic with a few laps remaining. He steered clear of trouble and entered victory lane as a birthday present to his mother. That was his third win of the season. Wirtz finished second in front of the new point leader of Kevin Naidl. Terry Van Roy finished fourth in his first run of the season. Scott Stewart finished fifth.
Matt Brehmer extended his point lead in a big way with his clean sweep night. He picked up the heat win and then later his seventh Feature win of the season. He started ninth on the field and proceeded to put a whooping on the crew. Nathan Lisowe beat Scott Johnson for second after a race long duel. Alex Seidl finished fourth with Kyle Dimmick fifth.
