(Francis Creek)- Sometimes racing is like baseball with timely hitting. Or as they say “Getting hot at the right time.” If that is a true statement then IMCA Modified driver Mike Mashl is golden for next week’s Clash at the Creek. Mashl has won the last two features that he has participated in at 141 Speedway. 137 cars competed in six divisions Saturday night.

Other winner were Rod Snellenberger(IMCA Stockcars) Greg Potts(IMCA Sportmods) Kevin Naidl(Grand Nationals) Keith Kickbusch(Street Stocks) and Scott Johnson(4 Cylinders.)

Adam Reed gave Mike Mashl everything he could on the opening lap of the IMCA Modified Feature. Unfortunately for the field that would be the last battle for Mashl on his way to his second consecutive win. Mashl would lead through a variety of cautions throughout the first half of the race. Troy Jerovetz mounted a charge before the final caution came out with R.M. Van Pay in tow. Mashl was able to stay in front of everyone as it looked like a finishing order in the top three from Luxemburg Speedway from the 90’s. Mashl took the win in front of Van Pay. Brian Mullen charged to a third place run. Brad Lautenbach wound up fourth. James Tebon flew from his sixteenth starting spot to finish in the top five. Mashl has now led 62 consecutive laps as he scored another clean sweep event.

Rick Mahlberg picked up some lap money as he opened up as the leader of the IMCA Stockcar brigade. Mahlberg quickly had company in Luke Lemmens at the front of the field. Rod Snellenberger made his way to the front with John Heinz throughout the six cautions that plagued the race. A three-wide battle would help settle the outcome with four laps remaining. Lemmens and Snellenberger passed Mahlberg at the line. Lemmens would lead one lap with Snellenberger snatching it away with three laps remaining. A couple of cautions kept the field close to the point leader. Snellenberger was able to pull away from Lemmens for his third win of the season. Heinz finished third with Mahlberg settling in the fourth spot. Larry Karcz Jr finished fifth.

J.J. Tuyls set up shop in front of the field early in the IMCA Sportmod Main Event. A scary pile-up would take place on lap three when Bill Edler spun by himself and involved Kevin Bethke, Cody Schroeder, Andy Kleczka and Troy DeGrave. The incident took out some of the top contenders. Tuyls would lead out of the caution with Greg Potts in hot pursuit. Potts made his move on lap seven and never looked back. Brandon Long started the show in thirteenth and worked forward but ran out of laps. Long was able to reach inside of Potts on the final corner but would lose by a ½ car length. Potts picked up his first win of the season. Long was able to become co-point leader with his runner-up finish. Brandon Schmitt finished third in his first run of the season at the speedway. Brian Bruechert finished fourth with Tuyls solidly finishing fifth.

Don Schumacher has been just a visitor this year in the Grand National division. However, he showed the group the way around the 1/3 mile at the beginning of the feature. Kevin Naidl worked from fourth to first quickly by lap five. Naidl dove down low and into the lead and would never relinquish it. A caution setup a two lap dash for cash late in the race. Naidl proved too strong and picked up his third straight feature win. He also scored another clean sweep. He also pulled into second in the points with the win. Dan Schumacher would pass Don for second. Point leader Shawn Schmitt finished fourth. Brad Lubach finished fifth.

Josh McDonald was the main man at the start of the Street Stock Feature. He led the field all the way into lap eight when lapped traffic decided to become a factor. A caution would fly as the leaders worked their way through the lapped traffic. Shawn Haydon used the open air to jump on top of McDonald and into the lead after the restart. Keith Kickbusch followed him to the front and then moved down low. Kickbusch passed Haydon for the lead on lap fourteen and led into the final caution with three laps remaining. Kickbusch ran away for the win with Haydon second. Haydon inherited the point lead. Justin Lindner passed Andy Fuhrmann late for third. Paul Diefenthaler fell back to second in the standings when he finished fifth.

Scott Johnson ended the streak of Matt Brehmer in the 4 Cylinder division. Johnson cleared the field early and picked up his first win of the season. Shaun Bangart passed Brehmer on the last corner to finish second. Brad Prahl finished fourth after starting fourteenth. Zach Degner rounded out the top five.
