Oshkosh, June 20- Despite almost 4 inches of rain during the week, the Oshkosh SpeedZone crews attacked the track early Friday morning and whipped it into race ready condition when the track opened at 5 for their scheduled Budweiser IRA Sprint Car special which included Automotive Supply Company IMCA Modifieds, Total Power Sales IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Sport Mods, Friday night.

The Total Power Sales IMCA Stock Cars started the feature portion of the program with Justin Jacobsen grabbing the lead followed by Larry Karcz, Jr, Mark Schuenemann, Cody Scray, Travis Van Straten and Rod Snellenberger.

By lap 5 Jacobsen was still holding the lead with Karcz, Schoenemann and Snellenberger behind. A lone race caution on lap 7 for debris tightened the field and under green, Snellenberger was able to use the inside line to take over the top spot with Schoenemann following into second. Snellenberger, working toward his 200th career feature win, looked well on the way as he started to pull away when suddenly, the car popped in turn four on lap 14, and he pulled the car to the infield, turning the lead to Schoenemann. Karcz and Jacobsen were now right behind the leader in a battle that lasted to the finish. Schoenemann recorder his first ever SpeedZone feature and first in over 2 years with Karcz taking the runner up spot followed by Jacobsen. Van Straten took fourth with John Heinz in fifth and Randy Schimmel rounding out the top six.

Jordan Barkholtz grabbed the initial leads in the IMCA Sport Mod main with Brianna Ambroziak, Robbie Thiel, Jon Schultz, and Lucas Lamberies behind. Schultz hooked up early and worked to the front, taking over the lead on lap 8. Steve Schneider and Todd Wiese also made their way through traffic and followed into 3rd and 4th. Contact between Barkholtz and Wiese caused Wiese’ car to get airborn and flip in turn four, bringing out the red on lap 10. He was not injured but the car sustained heavy damage.

Schultz continued in the top spot after the restart and was able to open a lead as the run for second heated up for the last half of the race. Lamberies, Adam Peschek, Jeff Schmuhl and Brock Saunders ran together chasing the leader. Schultz ran off to win his first feature here since August 7, 2012, Peschek won the battle for second with Schmuhl in third, Saunders fourth and Lamberies fifth. Brandon Berth rounded out the top six.

The Automotive Supply Company IMCA Modifieds opened with a first lap caution, but then clicked off 20 straight hard fought laps. Dan Roedl took the lead and sped off to hide from the field with Jerry Muenster, Shawn Frelich, Jeremy Christians, Marcus Yarie and Mike Wedelstadt behind.

Frelich was also able to open a lead as the battle for third took center stage.

By half way, Roedl was a ¼ lap ahead with Frelich still holding a slight margin over third, with lapped traffic coming into play as well. With 5 laps remaining, Yarie worked into third and chased down Frelich taking second on lap 17. Jared Siefert, Christians and Wedelstadt were also able to get by Froelich over the last few laps, but all chased Roedl as he collected his first career IMCA Modified feature. Yarie, Siefert, Christians, Wedelstadt and Frelich rounding out the top six.

Billy Balog sped off with his fourth straight IRA Sprint feature win. See the entire run down at www.Racetext.net.

Next Friday, all six regular divisions will be on hand for Drivers Sponsor Appreciation Night. Racing gets underway a t 7 PM.
