Ashland, WI — As part of its 50-year celebration of racing in the Chequamegon Bay area, the Ashland-Bayfield County Racing Association will pay homage to its long and celebrated list of track points champions at the ABC Raceway on Saturday.

For its annual “Turn Back the Clock” Night program, presented by the Bad River Lodge, Casino & Convention Center, the Raceway will welcome back many of its over 85 past champs for an afternoon luncheon, tour of the facilities and evening of racing action.
Also included in the day’s activities will be the annual visit by the Northern Vintage Stockcar Racers club, a Midwestern touring group which brings restored full-bodied stock cars and classic racing coupes and roadsters to tracks throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin for show as well as competition.
In addition, the track will host a car show from 2-5 pm. Many of the NVSR competitors will have their restored racers on display, and area car enthusiasts that want to show off their prized autos are welcome to display them in the Raceway grandstand parking area as well.
The racing portion of the busy program will include all five regular weekly divisions – WISSOTA-sanctioned Modifieds, Super Stocks and Midwest Modifieds, plus Six-Cylinders and Pure Stocks – as well as the Vintage racers in action for a full night of fun, and during the program’s intermission the champions that are in attendance will be introduced and honored, giving fans a chance to see and remember some of the region’s greatest racing heroes and legends.
Although the Champions’ Luncheon is by invitation only, the car show is open to the public at no charge in the Raceway’s parking area. The grandstand and pit gates will open at 5 pm on Saturday, with hot laps starting at 6:15 and the first race of the evening set for around 7 pm. Admission tickets for adults (ages 13 & older) are only $10, while fans ages 12 and under are welcome for free when accompanied by a paying adult.
Prior to the race program, “Race Night” will provide up-to-date track news and weather information live on WBSZ, 93.3 FM, and online at www.wbszfm.com, from 4:30-6 pm.
The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For raceday information call (715) 682-4990, or log on to the track’s website, www.abcraceway.com.
