Pair of 2nds at Luxemburg & Thunderhill for Budzo Racing

Coming off a 6th place finish last week at Luxemburg Speedway and a 2nd place finish at Thunderhill Raceway, we once again visited both tracks this past weekend.

On Friday at Luxemburg, a 3rd place finish in the heat race put me 7th on the starting grid for the feature. The bottom of the track was the place to be throughout the race, as 2nd through 6th were single file around the tires for the duration.

A late caution with 2 laps remaining put me in the 5th position on the restart, and I was able to split Kelsy Hayes and Brandon Long to get into the 2nd spot. Coming to the checkers, I was unable to find enough bite on the outside to get the win, and narrowly beat Hayes to the line for 2nd.

On Saturday at Thunderhill, again I would finish 3rd in the heat race to put me in the 8th starting position in the feature. After passing Randy LeMieux and tracking down Josh Massart and Jeff Lautenbach in the early going, contact between myself and Lautenbach sent the field scattering. Luckily, everyone was able to continue and keep the race under green, and I started to track down the Massart and Bernie Reinhardt.

Going low on the track, I was able to get past both to grab the 2nd spot and begun chase on Cody Rass for the lead. As the laps wound down, I would chip away at Rass’s lead, but only could come within a couple car lengths at the checkers.

Those finishes have now put us into 4th place in the standings at Luxemburg and into a tie for 1st place with Ryan LeMieux at Thunderhill. We will be racing both tracks yet again this weekend.
