GRAND NATIONALS
The Grand National feature was paced by 98n Kevin Naidl (Cato) and 66 Travis Moehring (Sheboygan) with Naidl grabbing the early lead. On the second lap caution came out as 7 Brian Gilles got loose and spun low in Turn 2, collecting 74 Chad Ninmer (Cleveland) and 8x Brad Juckem (Chilton). Ninmer, 7s Tim Simon (Fon du Lac), and Gilles headed to the pits on the hook, while Juckem was able to rejoin the field. Naidl led 8j Matt Jackson (Sheboygan), 93s Dan Schumacher (Milwaukee) and Moehring back to green. Schumacher got the jump on Naidl and Jackson and stormed into the lead while 21 Kevin Lubach (Plymouth) moved in to tussle with them. Jackson ran down Schumacher for the lead on Lap 7 while Naidl, Lubach, and 37 Ryan Minster (Sheboygan) were mixing it up for 3rd and on Lap 8 another caution flew as the three of them tangled low in Turn 4. Naidl was finished for the night, while Minster returned missing most of his rear body panels. Jackson brought Schumacher, Simon, Juckem, and 8 Glenn Blanke (Sheboygan Falls) back to green with Lubach tearing through the field trying to get back to the front. Jackson wobbled and slowed on Lap 12 and headed to the pits, giving the lead back to Schumacher. The final caution flew a lap later as Simon lost power on the front stretch and the field scrambled to avoid him, with the car coming to a stop just inside Turn 2. Schumacher led Juckem, 81n Zach Axlen (Sheboygan), Lubach, Blanke, and Minster to the line for the final run to checkers. Lubach and Axlen made short work of Juckem, dropping him back to 4th to battle with Minster. Schumacher cruised to the win, with Lubach, Axlen, Juckem, and Minster rounding out the top 5. Axlen passed 9 cars in taking home Hard Charger honors.

The d7 of Jim Letizia (Milwaukee) and rookie contender 19 Eric Van Iten (Green Bay) set the front row, with 15s Rick Scheffler (Waukesha) and 7b Tim Buhler (Glenbuelah) in row 2. Letizia led the first lap with Scheffler, Van Iten, and 3 Brett Swedberg (Shawano) hounding him hard. Scheffler held the lead on Lap 2, and Van Iten was on the point putting Lap 3 in the books. Last weeks feature winner 79 Jim Schmidt (Cleveland), starting 11th by rule, and McGrath worked traffic hard and by lap 5 Schmidt was up to 8th and McGrath 11th while Scheffler was on the point again. At the midway mark, it was still Scheffler on point, being chased by Buhler, Van Iten, and Swedberg, while a battle was going on mid pack between Schmidt, McGrath, 70 Todd Jensema (Sheboygan Falls), 97 Justin Schmidt (Cleveland), 98 Tom Naeyaert (Shawano) and 18 Nick Cochart (Casco). Reif brought the field back to green with Plate, Berth, 20 Cody Schroeder (Manitowoc), and 63b Jesse Brey (Two Rivers) in the top 5. Berth quickly got around Reif and stretched the lead quickly, while Brey made his way around Plate. Rolling through the midway mark, it was Berth, Reif, Schroder, Brey, Plate, Arenz and Kretschmann. Schlafer and Miller put on a great show throughout the middle portion of the event, pulling slide jobs and great passes on each other. At the halfway point it was Scott Sippel holding off Pokorski, Danny, Randy Sippel, and Marten. Lap 16 produced the only caution of the race as Marten contacted the guardrail, and spun around slapping the pit entrace rail, requiring a tow truck ride to the pits. Sippel led Pokorski, Schlafer, and Randy Sippel back to speed, with Schlafer taking advantage of the field closing up tight to get around Scott Sippel for the lead while 21h Tim Haddy (Waupan) also used this opportunity to push into the top 5 around Miller.
