Theys Tames the IMCA Modifieds at 141 Speedway

(Francis Creek)- It was a beautiful night for racing Saturday night at 141 Speedway as fans were able to watch 113 cars check in to do battle. Brad Theys was able to tame the 29 car IMCA Modified field.

Other winners on the evening were Troy Muench(IMCA Stockcars) Brian Bruechert(IMCA Sportmods) Charlie Sancinati(Grand Nationals) Keith Kickbusch(Street Stocks) and Matt Brehmer(4 Cylinders.)

Russ Reinwald opened up the IMCA Modified feature on the pole and setup for a run to the winners circle. On lap 8 mechanical woes would end Reinwald’s chances of winning. His troubles started off of turn two and has he tried to get off the track in turn four a six car pileup occurred behind him and brought out the first caution. Mark Joski would inherit the lead when racing resumed with Brad Theys and Kyle Kudick in tow. A three wide battle on lap eleven would be the game changer. Theys powered by the duo on the bottom and set sail. A final caution was all that was stopping Theys from the checkered flag. He managed the restart and jetted away from the field over the final five laps to pick up his first IMCA Modified win of the season. Mike Mullen charged through the field and passed Kudick late in the race for the runner-up position. R.M. VanPay and Jared Siefert rounded out the top five.

Rick Mahlberg used his pole position starting spot to jump ahead of the field and lead the first lap of the IMCA Stockcar A main event. Greg Wichman charged up off the top of the birm to snatch the lead on lap two. Wichman would be your leader with Troy Muench now on his back bumper after a caution on lap four. Muench used a great restart and a good run off turn two up high to secure the top spot. Mark Schuenemann started twelfth on the field and gingerly picked off car by car on his way to the front of the feature. As laps winded down, Schuenemann was cutting into the lead of Muench. Schuenemann was able to reach the back bumper as they entered the white flag lap. Muench was able to stand the test and picked up his first W of the season. Schuenemann would have second place. Justin Jacobson finished third. Rod Snellenberger increased his point lead with a fourth place run. Larry Karcz finished fifth. Scott Stewart originally finished third but was claimed by Karcz. He denied the claim losing all points and money.

Brandon Tegen lead his first laps of the season at the start of the IMCA Sportmod Feature. Tegen led until lap four when Kevin Bethke rose to the occasion and into the number one spot. A series of cautions mid-race allowed everyone to stay with Bethke. Brandon Long and Brian Bruechert ran through field and were on the back bumper of Bethke on the final restart. As they took the green flag, Bethke got just loose enough as Bruechert was able to slide on by and put the cruise control on. Brian Bruechert would lead the rest of the way and pull away in the final laps. Bruechert picked up his first win of the season and increased his point lead. Bethke was able to beat Long to the line for second. Mike Dauphinais shook off some early bad luck to finish fourth. Cody Schroeder made a run all the way from fifteenth to finish fifth.

Justin Green started up front and didn’t disappoint early in the Grand National Big Dance. Green led until lap three when Charlie Sancinati ran by and into the lead. Sancinati put on a Grand National clinic from there on out to pick up his second straight feature win. Kevin Naidl finished a distant second with point leader Shawn Schmitt having a huge night in points with his third place finish. Greg Haese returned to the track with a fourth place run and Daniel Schumacher rounded out the top five. The race went caution free.

Justin Lindner found himself with a dominating performance early in the Street Stock feature. Unfortunately for him his racer would have different ideas and lead to him getting a mechanical black flag for smoking. A caution on lap eight would grant Tim Mueller the lead. Keith Kickbusch enjoyed the mid-race drama which allowed him to move into the lead over Mueller and bring the win home. Kickbusch pulled away in the second half of the race and picked up his second win of the season. Defending champion Paul Diefenthaler claimed the second spot and picked up points in the standings as Shawn Haydon had a tire failure. Mike Conard finished third in front of Josh McDonald. Tim Mueller had his best run of the season finishing fifth.

Brehmer was able to keep Bangart at bay and pick up his fourth win of the season. Prahl finished a season best third. Kasey Gross finished fourth in his first race of the season.
