Rains Spoil Racing at ABC Saturday

Ashland, WI, May 31 — The good news for race drivers who arrived at the ABC Raceway on Saturday night was that they got in to the pits for free.
The bad news was, they didn’t get to race.
Rains that threatened the entire northwestern corner of Wisconsin all day finally reached the Chequamegon Bay area and sprinkled just enough to mess up any chance for the Raceway staff to start its program, sponsored by the Safari Tavern of Ashland.
On Saturday, June 7, Little Caesar’s Pizza will present the Raceway’s annual Kids’ “Meet the Drivers” Night, during which fans young and old alike will be invited onto the track to get a chance to visit with drivers, get autographs and souvenirs, and take an up-close look at the race cars. A full night of exciting stock-car racing action with all five classes – WISSOTA-sanctioned modifieds, super stocks and Midwest modifieds, plus the track’s own pure stocks and six-cylinders – will follow the “meet-and-greet” session.
Hot laps will begin at 6:15 pm. Adult tickets are just $10 each, and kids ages 12 and under are welcome for free with a paid adult admission.
The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. “Race Night” will air Saturday on WBSZ, 93.3 FM, from 4:30-6 pm with up-to-date track news and weather information. For raceday information call (715) 682-4990, or log on to the track’s website, .
