Rhoe Classic, “Saturday on Tuesday” June 10 at Rice Lake Speedway
on May 31, 2014 at 6:41 pmRice Lake WI – The George Rhoe Classic and a full racing program are the highlights of a special Tuesday night show at the Rice Lake Speedway.
Slated for Tuesday, June 10th, the special attraction is a forty four lap, $2,000 to win and $200 just to start main event for the WISSOTA Super Stocks. The third annual George Rhoe Classic is in memory of a great friend of the Rice Lake Speedway and friend to many in racing, George Rhoe. The race is one of the highest paying Super Stock races in all of WISSOTA and a large field of cars representing several states is expected to be on hand to compete in this race. Defending champion Shane Sabraski from Rice Minnesota is off to anther strong start early in this racing season and already holds a feature win at Rice Lake in a early season visit to the track. The first winner of this event, Tim Johnson from Brainerd Minnesota is also expected to participate as well as many of the top Super Stock drivers in the region. Current track point leader Willie Johnsen Jr. hopes to keep the big money at home along with other weekly competitors like Shane Kisling, Jason Forehand, Eric Olson, Bart Steffen and others.
This night is dubbed “Saturday on Tuesday” for as well as the Super Stock special, a full program will be held for the other four classes that race at the speedway. This would include WISSOTA sanctioned modifieds, Midwest modifieds and street stocks along with the Rice Lake Pure Stocks. This is a full program for both track and national points with the draw/redraw format used for all classes. Being a special midweek night of racing, a number of out of town drivers are expected to take advantage of this special night of racing.
The pit gate will open at 4 p.m. on June 10th, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the draw cutoff and hot laps to commence at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow immediately.
The Rice Lake Speedway is a banked, third mile clay oval located one mile north of Rice Lake Wisconsin midway between state highway 48 and Barron County highway SS. With this special Tuesday night event, there will be no racing at the speedway on Saturday, June 14th. The WISSOTA Race of Champions qualifier, originally slated for June 14th, has been moved to Saturday, June 21st when regular Saturday night racing will resume.
