JIM FALLS, WI (May 26, 2014) – Coca Cola, Gordy’s County Market, Baxter’s Engines, and Baxter’s Speedshop brought night two of the 2014 Memorial Day Special at Eagle Valley Speedway as fantastic weather greeted a large crowd. All six classes were in action with the WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks, EVS Pure Stocks, and EVS Hornets taking to the track for competition. Feature winners included Kevin Adams, Tommy Richards, Michael Truscott, Adam Soltis, Talon Laabs, and Kasey Gross.

Cody Cimfl, and for the second evening in a row Kevin Adams, led the Modified feature to the green. Cimfl led lap one but Adams gained the point on lap two. A spinning Matt Leer brought out the caution and he left the competition. On the restart, Adams again led with Jake Hartung moving to second and Mike Anderson passing into third after starting sixth. The remainder of the race provided little drama as the top three cars drove away from the pack. Adams was the only repeat winner from the evening before as he won his third feature of the holiday weekend and Steve Hallquist and Cimfl rounded out the top five.

Curt Hazelton and Tony Falkner made up the front row of the Super Stock feature and mirroring the evening before, fifth starting Tommy Richards worked his way to the lead on lap one. Again, exactly as the night before, Richards held a solid point for several laps as eighth starting Curt Meyers drove to second, this time in two laps. Meyers caught Richards and an epic battle ensued for the lead. Richards was masterful in the front and eventually as lap traffic appeared it would play a factor, and won an extremely close race over Meyers. Mark Stender had worked his way to third and was closing on the leaders as they battled but was not a factor in their race for the point. James Cimfl and James Harris completed the top five.

Bob Wood and Kent Baxter held the front row in the Midwest Modified feature. A caution on the opening lap involving four cars reset the field for a second try. On the start, Wood spun in front of the pack, once again drawing the yellow flag. A third attempt was successful and Michael Truscott raced to the lead from the second row and led every lap. A backstretch caution slowed the action once as Dean Pronschinke and Daniel Tautges were eliminated by the crash. Truscott controlled the restart and was followed to the checkers by Shane Halopka, Nick Koehler, Cory Crapser, and Kent Baxter.

Jake Hanson and Adam Soltis showed the way to the green in the Street Stock feature with Soltis taking the lead and not looking back. Mike Knudtson raced to second and chased the leader to no avail. Rookie Jake Hanson finished a career best third in a very competitive run as Danny Richards and Brandon Davis filled out the field.

The Pure Stock feature had Jay Barnier Jr. and Talon Laabs in the front row with Laabs taking the point and leading cover to cover. George Richards pressured Laabs for several laps but was not able to make the pass. Mike Knopps finished third and Todd Roshell, and Barnier Jr. completed the top five.

The Hornet feature came to the green led by Kodi Kuhnert and Chuck Wald as entertaining racing ensued. The cars ran at very high speeds and in a tight group causing multiple bump and runs along with other contact. Kasey Gross eventually shook out in the lead and was chased very closely to the checkers by second finishing Scott Westaby. Chris Dyke finished third over Jay Welk and Brandon Dyke.

Racing action continues on Sunday, June 01, 2014 as Miller Lite sponsors the races. As always, there will be a kid’s bike giveaway sponsored by Kelly Oium Well Drilling of Strum and Kris Oium Asphalt Paving of Eleva. One lucky boy and one lucky girl will win a bike!
