The Grand National Feature event rolled to Green with 98 Kevin Naidl (Cato) and 12d Chris Gilson (Elkhart Lake) out front, with Naidl grabbing the lead and 74 Chad Ninmer (Cleveland) rolling into second. Emergency vehicles were quickly on the scene, putting the fire out and assisting the driver, who was shaken, but unhurt. After a short clean up, Naidl led Ninmer, 37 Ryan Minster (Sheboygan), Gilson, and 73s Shawn Schmitt (Manitowoc) back to action. Getting a great restart on the inside, 7 Brian Gilles (Plymouth) picked up 3 positions on the next lap, challenging Minster for 2nd. Schmitt, 8j Matt Jackson (Sheboygan) and 8x Brad Juckem (Chilton) swapped positions for 5 several times until Schmidt slipped, allowing last weeks feature winner 42 Nick Strobbe (Milwaukee) into the fray. On Lap 16, Gilson, 66 Travis Moehring (Sheboygan) and 81n Zach Axlen (Sheboygan) were involved in a viscious wreck on the backstretch with Gilson incurring the bulk of the damage to both his car and the guardrail, resulting in a lengthy red flag period.
