Rice Lake WI – Details have been finalized for the third annual George Rhoe Classic to be held at the Rice Lake Speedway.

Scheduled for Tuesday night, June 10th, this race honors the memory of a great friend to the Rice Lake Speedway and all of racing, George Rhoe. Super Stocks will again be the focus of the evening’s racing as the third annual event will again pay one of the top purses for the Super Stock class in all of WISSOTA. Last year, Rice Minnesota’s Shane Sabraski went home with $2,000 plus contingencies as he topped the forty four lap main event. Sabraski is expected to be on hand to defend his title along with the 2012 winner of this race, Tim Johnson from Brainerd Minnesota. Those two, along with thirty or more Super Stock drivers from the area look to bring home the top prize and Wisconsin drivers like Curt Myers, Jason Forehand, Shane Kisling, Scott Lawrence and Tommy Richards hope to keep the money in Wisconsin this year.
In a new twist to the program this year, all the other divisions that weekly race at the speedway will also be in action. That would include WISSOTA sanctioned modifieds, Midwest modifieds and street stocks along with the Rice Lake pure stocks. All four classes will compete in full racing programs and with WISSOTA points on the line, out of town drivers in all divisions are expected to add to the fields on that night.
Intercomp, headquartered in Medina Minnesota will once again supply contingency sponsorship for this event.
With the race action on Tuesday, June 10th the speedway will take the night off on Saturday, June 14th with the Rice Lake Auqafest in town.
Pit gates are slated to open at 4 p.m. on June 10th with the grandstands open at 5 p.m. The draw cutoff will be at 6:30 p.m. with hot laps at that time and racing to follow. Draw/redraw will be in effect for the drivers. There is no rain date for this event and there will be no racing at the speedway on June 14th, whether or not the Rhoe Classic is held.
The Rice Lake Speedway is a third mile clay oval located one mile north of Rice Lake Wisconsin. For more information on this event and the Rice Lake Speedway, check the speedway website at www.ricelakespeedway.com or call track co-owner Dave Adams at 715-205-2861.
