Menomonie WI, May 9 – The Red Cedar Speedway racing season is rapidly shrinking, all before a race car even gets to turn a lap in competition. For the third straight Friday, the speedway was forced to cancel its opening night program of the 2014 racing season. A reported three inches of rain on Thursday along with cold and damp conditions on Friday made the race track unsuitable for racing and impossible to bring into racing shape on Friday.
So, with the hopes that the fourth try will be the lucky one, the speedway has rescheduled opening night to Friday, May 16th. Baxter’s Speed Shop and Dirt Track Specialties will present the program that will feature WISSOTA sanctioned late models, modifieds, super stocks, Midwest modifieds and street stocks along with the Red Cedar pure stocks. The pit gate will open at 3 p.m. with the grandstands at 5 p.m. Draw cutoff is 6:30 p.m. with racing to begin a half hour later.
