THUNDERHILL OPENER CANCELLED FOR MAY 10, INSTEAD A PRACTICE WILL BE HELD AT 3:30pm
on May 9, 2014 at 11:51 pm(Sturgeon Bay, WI) May 9, 2014- Officials at Thunderhill Raceway have decided to cancel the season opener for this Saturday May 10. The track is too soft for a full race night, especially on the top groove where it’s to wet for a 20 car feature. Woody has stated from the beginning that the track had to be 100% ready.
So instead of the opener this Saturday May 10 a practice will be held from 3:30pm to 7:30pm. This will allow for the perfect number of cars to be on the track at once and allow track officials to focus in on the places that will need work before the opener.
We can dictate the cars at a practice but we can’t on a race night.
Woody stated; “This wasn’t an easy decision by any means, if the track was hard we’d be racing. I’m just as frustrated as everyone else is on this matter. It isn’t worth wrecking cars and the track just to get this night in, all the hard work with the new clay would all be for nothing. We’ll get this practice in and prep the track to start the season next Saturday.”
Practice is open to all divisions. Pit gates open at 2:30pm. $15 charge for anyone entering the pits. No charge for the grandstand.
Practice only this Saturday May 10 at 3:30pm
