SHAWANO — After Mother Nature put a damper on the first 3 weeks of the season, all systems are go for this weekend (May 9 and 10). “Mother Nature hasn’t been a race fan this season” Said Marketing Director Brad Luepke “but the track looks in excellent condition today, even after the rain. Our Track prep Crew has put in a lot of hours to make sure our drivers have the best surface possible.” Shawano will have a practice session Friday Night at 5:30, and the regular Race program will hit the track Saturday, with Hot Laps at 6:00pm and racing starts at 6:30. Once again 5 divisions will race weekly on the half mile, with the ground pounding Late Models. “We had a strong car count in the Late Models Last year, Averaging 20 a week.” Said Luepke “but a lot of guys have moved into the Late Model Division this season, we could easily see full fields weekly.” Fans have been eager for the season to get underway. Some changes for the fans, along with a Schedule full of special promotion make this one of the more anticipated seasons at Shawano in a long time. “We added a bunch of Picnic Tables under the Grandstand to make for plenty seating while eating before the races.” Said Luepke “and we will have a 16 page full color weekly program that will be crammed full of content for the fans, it will be a great keepsake. We really wanted to bring some of things back from the past, to recreate the excitement, and from the feedback I have gotten, we are going in the right direction.” Shawano Speedway Races weekly on Saturday Nights through Labor Day.
