Shawano,WI,7/27/13—Nick Anvelink and Cody Hokenstad each scored their second feature wins of the season. While Eric Scribner, Rod Snellenberger, and Calvin Stueck snagged their first wins of the season.
Troy Springborn and Doug Blashe started the Late Model feature with a side by side battle for the lead. Blashe nosed ahead of Springborn to lead the first four laps before being passed by Springborn. Nick Anvelink moved up to the second position on lap six after starting in the tenth position. On lap eleven Anvelink moved to the inside of Springborn and the pair began a battle for the lead that lasted lap seventeen when Anvelink completed the pass for the lead. The win is Anvelinks second of the season. Springborn help on to the second position.
Eric Scribner was virtually unchallenged during the IMCA Modified feature. The 2005 track champion took the lead on the opening lap and never looked back on the way to his first victory of the year at Shawano. Tenth place starter and current point leader Jerry Wilinski finished the feature race a distant second.
Harley Simon took the early lead in the IMCA Stock Car feature before mechanical woes knocked him from the race. Rod Snellenberger grabbed the lead on lap two and held off numerous challenges from Dan Michonski to win his first Shawano Speedway feature of the season. Point leader Brandon Czarapata had to come from the back after an early race incident to finish third.
The IMCA Sport Mod feature was a real barn burner. The race began with Brandon Nygaard leading the early stages of the race before Jordan Baartz took to the inside of Nygaard and grabbed the lead coming out of turn four on lap five. Cody Hokenstad began to pressure Bartz shortly after she grabbed the lead. Hokenstad took the lead from Bartz on lap ten. Bartz took the lead back from Hokenstad on lap twelve. Hokenstad returned the favor on lap fifteen. Bartz stayed right on Hokenstad for the remainder of the race, but came up short by a bumper as Hokenstad won his second feature of the year at the track.
Brad Wedde jumped from his outside pole starting position into the lead at the start of the Mighty Four feature. Jeff Behm and Calvin Stueck went three wide with Wedde on lap four. Behm came out as the leader of the race. Stueck grabbed the lead with a slide job in turn four of lap eight and went on to win the race.
