(Francis Creek, WI) July 20– Eric Mahlik of Green Bay took the lead with 8 laps to go and went on to win the caution free, IMCA modified feature on Christmas in July night at 141 Speedway Saturday night.

A total of 100 cars checked in to compete, including 22 Hansel Trucking IMCA modifieds, 8 Brian Peterson Grand Nationals, 21 IMCA stock cars, 18 Tisler Salvage street stocks, 21 Hansel Trucking IMCA northern sportmods and 10 sport fours. Three out of the six divisions of racing went caution free in their feature events.

Benji Lacrosse of Green Bay tried chasing down Mahlik as laps wound down but came up short in second after winning last night’s Badger Mod Tour race at Oshkosh. Algoma’s Tyler Hackett led until lap 12 when he drifted back into the third spot with Mishicot’s Kyle Kudick fourth and Jay Matthias of Green Bay fifth.

In the IMCA Stock Car division Hilbert’s Dan Nelson led from the drop of the green until lap 17 when Nelson, Devin Snellenberger, John Heinz, Todd Augustine and Larry Karcz of Pulaski were all battling up front for the lead but Nelson collected Heinz and all the other drivers had no place to go. Nelson went to the back which handed the lead to Devin Snellenberger with three laps to go. Snellenberger would hold off Heinz on the restart and Snellenberger captured his first feature this year at 141 Speedway. Heinz second, Augustine third which was his best finish this year and Karcz fourth with Tyler Smith of Luxemburg fifth.

In the Hansel Trucking IMCA Sport Mods Suamico’s Andy Kleczka snatched the lead away from Green Bay’s Hunter Parsons on lap 6 and went on to win his first feature win of the season that went caution free. Brian Bruechert of Kewaunee was knocking on Kleczka’s back door as laps went on and through lap traffic but came home comfortably in second with point leader Josh Long of Little Suamico third, JJ Anderson of Pulaski fourth and 14 year old rookie Parsons fifth.

Manitowoc’s Shawn Schmitt led from the drop of the green and goes on to win the caution free feature race. Point leader Kevin Naidl of Whitelaw tried to catch Schmitt but places second with Stock Car regular Rick Mahlberg of Denmark switching things up and racing with the Grand Nationals who placed third. Jo Gauger of Two Rivers had a fourth place finish as her birthday gift with a Paul Diefenthaler of Manitowoc fifth who is racing double duty in the Grand Nationals and Street Stocks.

Diefenthaler would grab the lead away from Carl Slack of Green Bay with 8 laps to go and would extended his point lead by capturing the feature win in the Tisler Salvage Street Stocks. Ray Fuller of Manitowoc would steal the second spot away from Slack on the final lap. Slack would place his career best in third with defending track champion Kraig Koehler of Francis Creek fourth and Reedsville’s Matt Reinke fifth.

“Screamin Jay Orr” of South Milwaukee captured his first feature of the year in the Sport Four division. Point leader Mike Montie of Abrams picked up the second spot with father Jeff Brehmer of Pulaski third over his son Matt Brehmer fourth and Luxemburg’s Brad Prahl fifth.

Day II of the $10,000-to-win Clash at the Creek V will take place Wednesday, July 24 at 7 p.m. This will be day two from the event, of which the second day got rained out June 27. So far, nine drivers are locked into the big show, including Green Bay drivers Troy Jerovetz, Benji LaCrosse and Jay Matthias, Shawn Kilgore of New Franken; Tom Schaal of Gillett, RM Van Pay of Denmark, Jared Seifert of Luxemburg, Brian Mullen of Seymour and Todd Dart of Algoma. A full modified program is on tap, in which the remaining 15 spots in the 50 lap A main will be determined.

Joining the mods for the biggest paying modified event in eastern Wisconsin’s history will be the Iron Horse Sales & Service Badger Stock Tour presented by Kick Ass Drive Train & Iron Horse Recycling. In the BST’s first three events they’ve averaged 38 cars per show, with Oconto’s Scott Stewart winning at Seymour Speedway and Pulaski’s “Hot Rod” Snellenberger picking up wins at Thunder Hill Raceway and Oshkosh Speedzone, respectively. A field of over 40 stock cars is expected to throw down in the 30 lap A main.
