THUNDERHILL RACEWAY OPENER WASHED OUT FOR MAY 11
on May 11, 2013 at 11:45 amBy Edward Anschutz
(Sturgeon Bay, WI) May 11, 2013- Mother-Nature has once again caused another track in N.E. Wisconsin to cancel a night of racing. Thunderhill Raceway is forced cancel due to heavy rains, pits being flooded & just plain ole nasty weather…oh and its snowing. We are set to attempt another go at it next Saturday, May 18 for Dave Hatch Racing, WDOR and Maas Floral night.
Talked to Woody and staff members that have been at the track since 7am trying to see what they could do to and make things a go. In preparation for the bad weather the track was worked until the early morning , unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate at all.
Woody stated, “Even if the pits weren’t flooded the condition of the racing surface likely would’ve been sketchy, unless you have mud and snow tires.” “We need warm weather and sun shine, cross your fingers for next weekend!”
For those of you heading to the track this season, the 42/57 bridge is closed for construction. Track GPS address is 1116 N 15th Pl…this will take you right to the pit gate. Detour signs are posted, so make sure to follow them into town, then let the GPS take you the rest of the way. Otherwise I’m pretty sure it will take you to the closed bridge.
Five divisions do battle every Saturday night through the summer. IMCA Modified, IMCA Stock Car, IMCA Northern Sport Mod, IMCA Hobby Stock and Street Stocks will compete on the 1/3rd mile clay oval.
For more information, please visit the track’s website at www.racethunderhill.com Thunderhill is located at the John Miles Fair Park on Sturgeon Bay’s east side. Pit gates open at 3:30 P.M. racing starts at 6:00 P.M. For your social media outlet like Thunderhill Raceway on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
