(Seymour, WI) July 22 – Travis Springstroh used a late race restart to pass Derek Lecker and win in the Street Stocks at Seymour Super Speedway on Action Auto Night. Other feature winners were Jason Czarapata (IMCA Modified), Brandon Czarapata (IMCA Stock Car), Jeremy Cota (IMCA Sport Mod) and Calvin Stueck (Four-Cylinders)

Derek Lecker jumped from his pole position to a sizable lead in early in the Street Stock main event. Lexxi Ashcraft and Travis Springstroh gave chase while waging battle for the runner up position. At the midway point Lecker kept his competition behind him. Gary Kasperek broke into the top 4 but after contact with last weeks winner Joe Schwister, sent Kasperek’s machine to the pits with a flat tire ending his night. Lecker looked to have the win locked up but a caution with 2 laps remaining brought the field to his back bumper. Springstroh capitalized sliding to the inside of Lecker as the white flag waved. Springstroh powered away winning his first career feature. Lecker had to settle for second, Schwister third, Aaron Melchert fourth and Justin Lindner rallied to a fifth place finish after a opening lap spin.

The win also netted Springstroh the point lead in the Street Stocks.

In the IMCA Stock Cars it was once again Brandon Czarapata taking home the win.

Barry VanStraten slipped his way from row two to the lead on the opening lap. He then powered away from the field. Shawn Wagner, Jeremy Wiitala and Brandon Czarapata marched through field making quick work of the 20 car starting field. By the midway point Czarapata sat alone in second slowly closing in on VanStraten, the only guess was if Czarapata could get to the leader before the checker. A caution on lap 9 took away that question. On the restart VanStraten slid high and Czarapata drove by down low and pulled away to his 9th point night win and 10th overall for the season after scoring the Spring Thaw special. Wagner placed second after a spirited battle with Wiitala who came home third, VanStraten fourth and Harley Simon came home fifth after starting in row 7.

Racin’ Jason Czarapata scored with 6th feature in the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds.

Point leader Jason Czarapata passed Jamie Schmidt on lap 3 and never looked back scoring the win and padding his already huge point lead. Kyle Fredrick made a late race charge placing second, Schmidt third, Randy Markwardt Jr., fourth and Dean Mauer rounded out the top five.

Jeremy Cota became the first driver in the IMCA Sport Mods to 3 feature wins this season.

Jeremy Cota took the lead at the drop of the green and cruised to the victory scoring a clean sweep after winning his heat race earlier in the night. The win keeps him within striking distance of the point leader. Kurt Mueller closed in late on Cota but had to settle for second, point leader Brad Lautenbach placed third, Josh Long fourth and Mike Dauphinais fifth.

Calvin Stueck also padded his point lead by picking up his 7th feature win of the season. Trent Nolan had an interesting night that ended with a second place finish, Cody Hungerford third, last weeks winner Jeff Behm came home fourth and Jody Cornelius rounded out the top five.

Seymour is off next Sunday due to the fair. Racing resume on August 5 for Van’s Hwy Auto night.
