(Seymour, WI)- The final checker flag has flown for the 2011 season at Seymour Super Speedway. The Fall Classic winners were Paul Parker(Late Models) Danny Deau(Modifieds) Brian Ambrosius(Stocks) Jason Guyette(Sport Mods) Trevor Schmidt(Street Stocks) Tim Doehling(Grand Nationals) and Brian Johnson(4 Cylinders).
Matt Drawenek took early advantage of the Street Stock feature powering from the outside into the lead. Gary Kasperek would make his move into second place and make a run down low after the only caution of the race. Kasperek would gain the lead on the bottom and then head out for a Saturday afternoon cruise. With Kasperek dominating the race, Trevor Schmidt got passed Drawenek for second and set his sights on the leader. Schmidt would battle from a near full straightaway disadvantage to catch Kasperek with two laps to go. Schmidt would make his way underneath Kasperek and power away with the lead and eventual win. It was Schmidt’s first win of the season at the speedway. Drawenek made a last corner pass on Kasperek for second. Todd Everard finished fourth with Shawn Hayden fifth.
Tim Doehling used a dominating performance to win the Grand National feature event. The race was filled with six cautions through the early part of the race keeping the field close. Doehling was able to pull away from Tim Thompson on every restart and eventually grab the checker flag. Thompson would run second with Steven Ruh making a late charge to third. Nick Strobbe and Larry Zirbel rounded out the top five.
Jason Guyette, Brad Theys and Travis Van Straten put on a clinic of how to race on a dry slick track in the Sport Mod feature. Guyette would run as leader early in the race but Van Straten used the middle to get to the outside of Guyette. Guyette was able to keep Van Straten at bay but next in line was Theys. Theys would run the top through the black and gain momentum on Guyette. The two were repeatedly side by side at the line with Guyette always gaining the advantage. Guyette was able to hold off both charges and pick up his fourth win of the season. Van Straten held off Theys for second. Josh Long wound up fourth with Greg Potts fifth.
Troy Muench used his pole position to jump up into the lead ahead of Brian Ambrosius early in the Stockcar feature. Ambrosius would shadow Muench and when Muench slipped up out of turn four Ambrosius grabbed the lead. Muench’s night would end a lap later with a right front tire going flat. Ambrosius would encounter heavy pressure from John Heinz who inherited second. A caution on lap fourteen would regroup the field. Ambrosius would have his back bumper tested from Heinz the rest of the feature but wound up winning his fourth feature of the season. Heinz ran a very solid second. Shawn Wagner came from midpack to finish third. Rod and Devin Snellenberger finished fourth and fifth.
Danny Deau started up front and built a half a lap lead on the fourth place car in the Modified feature before cautions midway through the race would keep the field close. Dan Ratajczak would start thirteenth on the field and make his way to second under green flag action. Ratajczak would run down Deau from a straightaway down but run out of time as the checkers flew. Deau won his first feature of the season at the speedway with Ratajczak settling for second. Tim Lemirande was third followed by Kyle Kudick and Jason Czarapata.
Paul Parker and Pete Parker both started on the front row and ran away from the field in the Late Model feature. The two would stay up front through a series of cautions and then again check out. Paul stayed the conductor of the train and picked up the feature win. Dad, Pete was second. Gordie Seegert Jr. would run third, Brett Swedberg fourth and Craig Schueffner fifth.
Brian Johnson scored a clean sweep in 4 Cylinder feature action. Johnson’s victory capped off a two year run as 4 Cylinder Champion.
